Mr. and Mrs. Drury
Location: Dodson Orchards, LLC Fredericktown, Mo
We were very excited to be asked to shoot Tim and Shelby's wedding. The theme was an elegant/country barn wedding. Shelby did a great job of combining two styles that seemingly shouldn't go together.
The location for the wedding and reception was Dodson's Orchards in Fredericktown. Having the wedding and reception in the same location is a great time saver when moving from prep to ceremony to portraits to reception.
The bridal cottage was where Shelby got ready. It was a sweet little cabin with wood floors, white walls and vintage wedding portraits hung everywhere. The space where Sydney was doing Shelby's hair had a wall of mirrors which was both a blessing and a curse. Sometimes those mirrors give a interesting perspective for images, and sometimes they reflect things you don't really want in the image. Challenge accepted! Shelby's dress was gorgeous! A soft blush hue with a full skirt and lace detail, paired with a pair of cowgirl boots. She wore her new mother in law's earrings, her hair half up and a fingertip length veil. Surrounded by her bridesmaids, Shelby truly glowed as she prepared to walk down the aisle.
The groom's cabin was just what a groom's cabin should be. All dark wood, rugged and rustic. Tony was able to capture the masculinity of this space and create some amazing images. Tim was surrounded by his brothers, friends and nephew as they all gave each other a bad time, as only men can do. And Tim swore he wasn't nervous, just anxious to be married to the love of his life.
The weather was perfect, with a nice breeze (maybe closer to being a wind, haha) to keep things from being too warm. As each member of the wedding party walked the aisle, everyone was anxious to see the bride. She looked perfect as her father walked her down to the man who would be her husband in only moments. He choked up as he handed his baby girl over. The ceremony went off without a hiccup. It was beautiful.
After the ceremony, we took the family portraits, then walked off a bit with the wedding party. They were such a fun group of people to work with. Had a lot of laughs! Then we had to steal Tim and Shelby away and focus on them. This might be my favorite part of the whole wedding day. When two people have just committed themselves to love each other for the rest of their lives, something magical happens. We didn't have to "coach" Tim into looking like he was madly in love. It came so naturally with both of them, and THAT creates some amazing photography moments. Tim and Shelby's first date was cruising in his truck. As we walked past his truck that afternoon, we knew we had to stop. The images taken there make me smile. I love them.
The reception was small but full of fun. Watching Shelby twirl in her dress, Tim dance with his sisters, and everyone just having a blast. Their first dance was beautiful of course. The night carried on with some group dancing, lots of laughter, and ended with a S'mores bar! I love this, because when we took their engagement portraits we had them roast marshmallows. It was a nice tie in.
All in all, this was a beautiful day full of good friends, family, lots of silliness and a pure celebration of the love between these two.
